And we went shopping...
We got some great ideas and prices on cabinets, Corian countertops, and flooring (bamboo!) at Home Depot and Mom also took advantage of a bunch of deals (12 months no payments, no interest financing; 10% off all appliances, $100 rebate on each Maytag appliance, and free delivery) to order her washer, dryer, refrigerator and stove. They'll hold them for 3 months, so that means we want to get everything else done in three months! :)
Finally, one of Mom's friends wanted to get a better idea of what the kitchen looks like, so I did a panoramic thing, moving around the kitchen. (Keep in mind that the kitchen is where we're "storing" all our working and cleaning tools, so it's a mess from our stuff as well as the usual mess!)
Starting in the SE corner and going clockwise:
Doorway to the hall--
the "big" wall, to be opened up, we hope--
short wall--with the pantry that we'll probably take out so the fridge can go there--
Same wall, over a bit--doorway into the dining area and back door--
Sink area--
Corner--
Back to where we started (and where the stove will go)--

I had no idea you were planning on doing such extensive remodeling! I thought it was "just" painting and clean-up work. Wow. When will your mom be able to move in? And dare I ask what was under that carpet?
